Helen Butt (aka Miss Helen – a result of years of verbal abuse in the public school system) has only recently discovered her crafty and arty ability, although her friends say she was showing signs at a young age. She is fond of thick textas, inky pens, fibre arts and photocopying. She has been making zines since she was 15 and was raised on DIY ethics, all-ages punk shows and riotgrrrl. Her zines were always small, due to budgetary constraints and a preference for small things. Now working as a web designer, Miss Helen finds the balance of work and creativity highly rewarding.

spycore dot net is a personal website showcasing the recent works of Miss Helen, including knitting projects and pattern designs, Flash movies, websites and a gallery of her zines (spanning 1996 to 2004). Her screen design style is influenced by various textile elements, such as gingham, fabric samples and the process of sewing.
